Type of Course:
Our family cooking days are all about enabling family to get together, cook together and learn together. Today’s pace of life can be hectic and finding new recipes, shopping for ingredients and juggling the rest of the family invariably means not enough time to enjoy cooking.
A family cooking day at Truro School Cookery gives you and one of your children the opportunity to spend the day together cooking up some traditional Cornish classics, and some with a twist of Truro School Cookery.
· Cornish splits with mackerel pate and pickled vegetables
· Traditional pasty with homemade tomato ketchup
· Cheese scones with bacon jam
· Clotted cream cheesecake with summer fruits
How the day goes….
On arrival at Truro School Cafe you will be greeted with a freshly made smoothie for the young chef and something stronger for the adult. At 10am you will invited through to the teaching kitchen to gather around our large kitchen island. Your cookery teacher will demonstrate to you the first dish of the day, with overhead cameras capturing the finer details.
Now is time for some hands-on cooking, so you will head to your fully equipped cooking bay where you will find trays of all the ingredients waiting. Cooking will commence, with your teacher pausing the class at convenient times to demonstrate a technique, or the next dish.
At around 1.30pm we will pop open a bottle of something delicious. Your teacher will talk you through the accompaniments for our late lunch, before we move through to our dining area to share some of the dishes demonstrated, along with some scrumptious sides and freshly baked bread.
By 4pm you will be ready for a refreshing cold drink or cup of tea before heading home laden with your days dishes to share with family + friends.
Aprons, tea towels and refreshments provided, plus all ingredients and takeaway boxes. However, please feel free to help us reduce packaging waste by bringing your own reusable containers.
*Additional young chefs can be added for £30, but we can only accommodate a maximum of one additional young chef per adult.*
*Please register the cookery course in the name of the adult attending.*
*Please note students will be expected to work independently, including washing up, therefore some basic kitchen and cookery knowledge is required.*
